intelligent design

the whole idea behind intelligent design is that some intelligent force is responsible for evolution rather than evolution being a process of elimination where the strong survive and the weak die out. as a recent federal judge has ruled, intelligent design is not science so you can't teach it in a science class. teach it anywhere else you want but not in a science class unless you have some research and facts and data to support it.

the part that has me grinning like the Cheshire cat is the fact that all this emphasis on intelligent design bring about some other questions. the people lobbying for the teaching of intelligent design aren't allowed to make any religious connections so then the question becomes, who' intelligence is behind human evolution. after all several people believe that human evolution was in fact begun and shaped by extraterrestrials(aliens) so is the religious body ready to accept that as a viable possibility for the grand architect of human evolution? Also would they agree that there are other planets out there that were similarly designed?

forgetful

...where was i...one of the most interesting things about people is how soon things learned are forgotten, i'm speacking in a cultural and societal sense. for example once upon a time everyone knew how to string a bow ad make their own arrows, how many people can do this today? the point is that if there was some advanced civilization way back when and it got destroyed is some catastrophe then the survivors of that civilization would more than likely have to start from scratch. the more advanced a civilization, the more specialized the citizenry becomes and the less that they can produce for themselves.

senario. a bunch of advanced peoples set up all their little advanced civilizations around water, on sea coasts and river valleys. keeping up? ok let's continue. any historian or archaeologist, or anthropoligist worth his salt will tell you that civilizations like to pop up around water, after all water is a necessity of life. now say that some catastrophe causes the worlds oceans to rise suddenly and unexpectedly or that hurricanes adn tidal waves hit. all of these civilizations located next to water will be wiped out. if anyone survives they will only be able to do those things that they specialized in. for instance a blacksmith can make blades but only a swordsmith can make swords.

lost worlds

i'm currently reading graham hancock's underworld, among other things. in this book he explores the theory that many ancient civilizations are currently lying at the bottom of the ocean due to the flood waters from the last ice age. if he's correct, this means that high civilizations existed 10,000 years earlier than currently thought. the critics to this line of thinking seem to have only one argument, "if there was such a high civilization there would be evidence", this argument has two problems. Problem one; you have to find the evidence and in underworld that evidence is underwater and we know less about the oceans than we do about the moon. Second problem; when you bring critics evidence they say it's a hoax or that the ruins you find under water are simply odd natural rock formations.

of course not all these old civilizations lived on the cost, there are ancient civilix=zations that lived in the deserts and the jungles. Anything left unattended in the jungle wont last long at all. take the maya and aztec ruins and pyramids. they weren't rediscovered until the early 1900's and it had only been 400 hundred years since the conquistadores. so why would the critics assume that a civilization lost for 12,000 years would be easy to find. troy wsa a myth until someone decided to follow those myths with critics calling him a fool the entire way, and what do you know he found it. the mythical city of troy was real so what else has been lost to the world through the veil of legends.

schools and stupid people

so as i was sitting in class today, trying to stay awake as i listened to the professor go on and on about our exams, i began to wonder how it is that the US has more schools than most other nations and yet the level of educations is so abysmal. alo why is it that most dictatorships have better education systems than we do? say what you will about fidel castor but cuba has a 100% literacy rate. Maybe it has to do with the fact that communists believe their people are the greatest and they want to make this belief a reality. after all you can't go aaround telling th world how great your people are when they can barely read.or maybe its the fact tyhat illiterate people can't read government propaganda. most likely theres a correation with literacy and the fact that if kids don't learn how to read the teacher will be taken out and shot...who knows.

just a thought
